The famed “Invisible Shoes” designed by the incomparable Rei Kawakubo are finally releasing tomorrow. First debuted at her Spring ‘17 COMME des GARÇONS Homme Plus show last June in Paris, the shoe finally lands at CDG in New York City on February 8th.
The Dunk Hi was created as a humorous nod to Hans Christian Andersen’s account of an emperor’s vain misfortune — that he was tricked into buying and wearing “invisible clothing,” therefore exposing himself. The clear vamping, quarter paneling, collar and tongue are finished with leather overlays, while the equally expressive holes on the medial quarter and vamp provide ventilation.
Take a closer look at the COMME des GARÇONS x Nikelab Dunk Hi below and anticipate a February 8th release exclusively at COMME des GARÇONS New York.
