When Peter Poopat and Flavio Girolami founded Common Projects in 2004, in New York City, the union and the brand were based on a few things. Among the foremost, neither Poopat or Girolami could find the sneakers they wanted to wear — something slightly more elevated than sporting silhouettes like the Air Jordan 1 and Converse Chuck Taylor they grew up adoring. Their collective taste had evolved and, eventually, Common Projects was born.
Now almost 15 years in production and labeled one of the best luxury sneaker brands around, they debut selections from their spring/summer 2018 collection. The whole of it revolves around the Achilles Low, in a variety of colors, materials and viewpoints. Lively styles in blue and purple clearly represent Pantone trends while others like the hairy black pair offer distinction through textured wool fabrication. Early admirers of the adidas Stan Smith, that inspiration is felt within this collection and holistically with the Achilles Low.
