Kultura album coming soon? Maybe. Actually, no, probably not. But Commonwealth, a sneaker shop based in Washington D.C. and Virginia Beach, is extending their brand kultura (Pilipino tagalog for “culture”) to the Philippines to open their first international shop.

To commemorate the occasion, they’ve partnered with ASICS to release a collaborative Gel Lyte V “Kultura.” The shoe also celebrates the Kalinga, an indigenous group in the Philippines who inhabit the mountains of Luzon, all the while reserving their sacred culture despite decades of occupation by the Spaniards, Americans, and Japanese.

Expect the Commonwealth x ASICS GEL-Lyte V “Kultura” exclusively at Commonwealth doors on April 7, quickly trailed by a globally release at ASICS retailers the following week on April 14.
