Community Spotlight is a new series here on NiceKicks.com that will highlight a different sneakerhead, and their love for sneakers, each week.

We receive a ton of love every day from readers on our website, viewers on YouTube, and followers on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. We felt it was only right that we show love back by selecting one follower of NiceKicks from one of our many social media outlets to shine some light on.

In the series we will talk with sneaker lovers about what got them in to sneakers, what they have picked up recently, and what they are still trying to track down. This week, we spoke with Los Angeles based sneaker lover, Matt Johnson. Check out what he had to say below!

Name: Matt Johnson

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Social Media: Twitter and Instagram

Jeffrey Jason: When did you start collecting kicks?

Matt Johnson: As a kid I wanted all the latest Jordans and Trainers. Junior Seau, Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson all had sneakers that I wanted. However, ’99-00 is when I started buying to “collect.”

JJ: Who or what shoe started it all for you?

MJ: My first pair of Jordan sneakers were the Air Jordan 5s. I wanted to be Mars Blackmon so bad! [Laughs]

JJ: What was your last pickup?

MJ: Let’s start by saying that I’m definitely trying to downsize! I do however have all of the new sh*t like “Mulitcolor 2.0” Flyknit Racers, “OVO” 10s and HTM x Kobe 10s. Also some Footscapes that I haven’t picked up from ProjectBlitz yet!

JJ: What is your grail or shoe you’re still hunting for?

MJ: I have a few. I am looking for the Nike Zoom Spiridon, Air Jordan 3 “Oregon,” and Air Jordan 5 “Oregon.”  Honestly, I don’t think that you can just quit once you track down all of your grails. Once you get one, the hunt is on for something else. Always.

JJ: What do you love most about sneaker culture?

MJ: Meeting people with the same passion and interest for shoes. I have made some pretty dope connects and friends. I love talking about sneakers with people and hearing about their pick up stories and which sneaker they have came up one. One shoe can bring back so many memories.

JJ: What would you like to see change/more of in sneaker culture?

MJ: The hate. A lot of people hate other people/talk sh*t about people that they don’t even know. A nice collection doesn’t make you better than anyone else. There is always someone with a better one. Stay humble, you’re not that cool.

JJ: Is there anyone’s collection that you admire?

Matt Johnson: I haven’t personally seen a lot of collections, but I’d say CroatianStyle, Phase 2, The Perfect Pair, Melo and CP3.

Keep up with Matt aka @shoehefner5 on Twitter and Instagram.
