When the Nike Air Foamposite One first launched in 1997 it was an out-of-this-world oddity, dropping in only one, bold makeup.
My, have times changed. Over the course of the Foamposite One’s 17-year lifespan, the footwear world has caught up to the synthetic silo and even adapted to it, with the shoe still serving as one of the most popular models on the market. Launching in yet another colorway this weekend, we take a look back at the complete history of Nike Air Foamposite One releases.
“Dark Neon Royal”
Released: 1997, January 2007, July 2008 & February 12, 2011
The original “Dark Neon Royal” colorway launched in 1997 to somewhat skeptical reviews. Daring design, progressive technology and a sky high price tag didn’t make the OG Foams a hot seller upon launch. Still, the intrigue surrounding the shoe and its basketball moments made the colorway a classic year later.
Black/Black
Released: August 2007
Years before the “Stealths” the Nike Air Foamposite One returned as a retro in a then-new Black/Black colorway. These were relatively hard to find as Foamposites were not in high demand across the country. Most releases were allocated heavily in DC and NYC and not even released in certain cities. Contrary to the “Stealths,” this pair packs a solid outsole.
