Few things in sneaker culture are more intriguing than the current adoration of the Air Monarch. Everyone’s favorite “dad shoe” that has seen more 10am laps around the mall than a security guard, is new and hot again. The culture that surrounds the Monarch is largely to credit, popularizing chunky retro designs from the late ’80s and early ’90s.
Cambridge-based Concepts Creative Director Deon Point recently alluded to an Air Monarch collaboration on his Instagram and also gave a slight preview of the shoe. Then, last night, Jordan Brand’s Frank Cooker vindicated the collaborative style in its entirety.
Predominately dressed in an all-black upper, the midsole appears in white atop a sporty gum outer. A Concepts hang tag is seen near the heel while co-branding marks the shoe’s tongue. And while this exciting Concepts x Nike Air Monarch shoe would be the perfect bow to tie up 2017, its future is extremely uncertain.
Point was recently a guest on Sole Collector‘s Full Size Run and alluded to the shoe’s completion in extremely limited numbers. Yet he went on to express that the shoe may or may not release — in limbo so to speak. Would you cop given a release?
