“This is one of the most important days in our 108 years of existence.” – Jim Calhoun, President and CEO of Converse

Today, Converse unveiled the successor of the iconic Chuck Taylor, the Chuck Taylor II in Boston, Massachusetts. The latest from the CONS team closely resembles its predecessors but features a countless number of updated cues and up-to-date technology for today’s consumers.

The Chuck II possesses a perforated micro-suede lining, memory foam incorporated on collar and padded non-slip tongue, but its biggest difference from the original Taylor is the addition of a Lunarlon sock liner for upgraded cushioning. The CONS team expressed that they spent hours on top of hours in the design of the Chuck Taylor II. Discussions were constant about the toe cap, canvas and even the aglets on the laces. mentioned that they held a 4-hour meeting solely about the aglet length on the Chuck Taylor II’s, which is a tad bit longer than that featured on the originals.

Converse did not want to stray too far away from the sneaker that is arguably the most recognizable shoe in the world.

“When news broke of us doing the Converse Chuck Taylor, all we heard from so many people was ‘Don’t f**k up the Chuck,'” said Richard Copcutt, Vice President of Converse. “We never planned to stray away from our roots and hearing so many people express was in line with what we had in mind.”

The Fall 2015 Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II sneaker will be available on Tuesday, July 28, for a suggested retail price of $70 USD (ox) and $75 USD (hi), at Converse retail stores and on Converse.com in Black, White, Salsa Red and Blue colorways.
