Vans Slip On "Inti" Custom by Brush Footwear

Where has customizing taken you so far?

My art has taken me many different places especially since Brush isn’t even a year old yet! I was able to be involved with the Pittsburgh Penguins. We had a paint day where I painted on shoes with the team?s players. We then auctioned them off and the profits went to the Max Talbot Foundation. I designed the logo for the Max Talbot Foundation and together, Max and I donated 1,500 pairs of shoes to kids in need in Haiti. Before we sent the shoes we had kids from the Pittsburgh Kids Foundation paint on some of the shoes to promote art in a new way and to give art along to the people in Haiti. I have been to Sneaker Pimps N.Y. and have done a live painting at Sneaker Con. I have been featured in Whirl Magazine, Maniac Magazine and numerous online sites.?I also have been able to meet Dave Mirra and Brandon Boyd of the band Incubus.

Where are you hoping it leads?

I would love to collaborate and with the big companies like Converse, DC, Vans, and Adidas. That would just be too awesome to design with them. I would also like to start designing exclusive shoes for selected boutiques to be released in their stores.

What place do customs hold in the sneaker culture?

I’m not sure if they get the respect they deserve. I don’t think that people really look at it as an art.??Everything I make is hand done and unique. I put tons of hours into every shoe making sure its perfect.

What advice would you give someone interested in customizing?

Keep your ideas original; you have to bring something new and fresh to the game.
