Jordan Brand announced today that their long tenured partnership with Derek Jeter will continue, with the brand creating a new role for the recently married golden-glover from New Jersey.
Jeter, often dubbed “The Captain,” even outside the Yankees locker room where he officially presided as such, will operate under that title moving forward with Jordan Brand. His new role will focus on the iconic brand’s training category and family of baseball athletes.
“Derek is one of the hardest workers I have ever met,” remarked Michael Jordan. “His work ethic was evident in the way he played the game of baseball and it continues to drive the way he approaches his business career after retirement. We are excited to continue our relationship with him and for what he brings to the brand as we continue to grow.”
This news also confirms that Jeter’s signature RE2PECT line with training apparel lifestyle shoes will remain active, and re-emerge at Jordan Brand retail locations in Spring 2017.
“I am thrilled to continue my relationship with the Jordan Brand,” Jeter said in a statement regarding his new role. “I spent my entire baseball career trying to be the best player I could be and I am excited to help the next generation reach that goal through Jordan Training and Baseball.”
