Designer Quintin Williams shares his latest sneaker redesign, a reimagined version of the Nike Zoom KD II. Hear about the redesign inspiration and process straight from the designer himself:

“I knew there were two things I wanted to keep constant and it was the clean upper and the ribbed heel counter but accentuate it more.  One silhouette I’ve always loved was the Nike Zoom Ultraflight, so I bridge that TPU Support Shell to the heel to give more aggressive sculpting.  I also made the strap seamless on the lateral side so it would lock down on the medial.  I wanted the side profile to be as clean as possible to mimic KD’s smooth playing style as the original model did.  The interior would have an internal Zoom Air Phylon midsole with die-cut rubber flex zones in the forefoot and rear for super mobility.”

Quentin will continue his redesign project with additional models, with a new “Redesign Design” session beginning next week.
