Who said the Air Force 1 is almost dead? Nike continues to symbolized this iconic design by incorporating it into timeless collections and themed lineups. In attempt to honor the rich history of basketball culture in New York, Nike will release series of Air Force 1s dubbed the “5 Boroughs” Pack (an Air Force 1 has been created for each of the five boroughs in New York).
This particular pair honors the borough of Manhattan and was crafted by Air Force 1 enthusiast DJ Clark Kent. It features a primarily wine-colored base constructed of a carpet-like material, while hints of white leather are placed on the side panels and toe box. Grey accents come in the form of a chenille swoosh, an ‘M’ on lateral panel and thick piping throughout the base. Additionally, the tongue branding reads, ‘Nike Be’ with a swoosh separating the two words. As for the Manhattan theme, the word, ‘Manhattan’ is placed on one shoestring, while the words, ‘New York’ are seen on the opposite string.
The Nike Air Force 1 “Manhattan” is now available at select accounts in New York such as West NYC.
