Wanting to “pay respect” to the members of the 2013 Louisville title team after the NCAA vacated the school’s wins due to various rules violations, Utah Jazz rookie star Donovan Mitchell rocked a Kickstradomis‘ custom iteration of the adidas Dame 4 against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
Mitchell’s kicks sported a red Louisville colorway and had players’ names written along the midsole. For Mitchell, who attended Louisville from 2015-2017, he decided to wear the shoes because he looked up to that championship team.
“That’s just something that’ll forever be in Louisville history,” Mitchell said the Salt Lake Tribune‘s Kyle Goon. “It’s just one of those things where I looked up to those guys when I was at school, and I still do at Louisville, they’d come back and practice with us, give us advice on how to understand Coach P’s system. To see something like that, it’s awful to see. It’s terrible to see that you looked up to them to have that happen, so I just try to pay respect to them.”
