For the first time in its existence, college basketball’s annual Maui Invitational will only feature Division I teams. Marking a shift in the tourney’s commercial appeal that has been building for years, many of the nation’s top programs will highlight the deep Hawaiian field, including top-seeded Duke.
Led by the fierceness of Zion Williamson and a stacked freshman roster, the Blue Devils are favorites to come out of Maui in lieu of participating contenders like Gonzaga, Auburn, and Arizona. Duke will lace up Nike’s budding Kyrie 5 for the tournament, which was recently revealed in an array of Blue Devils centric colorways.
There are black, blue and white iterations of the Duke alum’s signature silhouette that’s now in its fifth installment. Irving is already wearing the shoe nightly with the Boston Celtics, and now Duke will also lace up the formidable hoops model. Duke, of course, plays in an assortment of Nike Basketball sneakers. Kyrie’s shoe has recently ranked among the more seen options considering his affiliation with the team.
The Blue Devils knocked off San Diego State 90-64 last night in the tourney’s first round. They’ll face Auburn tonight on ESPN at 8pm. Also, take a look at the UConn Huskies Kyrie 5 PE.
