Just last week on Friday, after a series of rumors dating back to early summer, Peak Sports officially announced they were adding Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard to their list of NBA endorsers. Moments later, the @PeakSportsUSA account deleted all of their tweets, causing some concern that they possibly jumped the gun on their announcement, as sources have said that Dwight’s prior contract with adidas doesn’t expire until September 30th.
Nevertheless, Dwight himself was in China over the weekend to celebrate his new partnership with Peak and meet with fans of his newly formed “Peak DH12 Fans Club.” Howard was donning a full head-to-toe Peak outfit, and his jacket surely features a print familiar to the footwear world.
In a ceremony that also included the company’s CEO and its design manager accompanying Dwight on stage, the brand officially unveiled two variations of what could become the Peak DH1, his first signature shoe with the brand.
Peak is letting consumers pick Dwight’s debut DH1 signature shoe among a trio of choices: “Three options for you to decide Howard Peak generation!” Using a stripped down polling service called Wenjuan, the brand has two designs of the DH1 posted, one created by the Peak Sports USA offices, and the other designed at the Peak design center in Beijing.
If you’re not feeling either model, you can also vote for “Option III,” which is simply a black silhouette, and then leave a suggestion for what you’d like to see in the comment box. You can head to the site now to place your own vote. We don’t yet have an official word on when the sneaker will be making its way to stores, but you can expect to see Dwight wearing the DH1 from the jump as the Rockets begin training camp later this month.
Check out images from the signing ceremony held in Beijing over the weekend, and let us know on Twitter which of the two DH1 designs you like best. Stay tuned, as we’ll have more on the newly formed Dwight Howard and Peak endorsement soon.
