words // Nick DePaula:

Balenciaga is the latest brand to get into the knit game.

The french fashion house most known by sneakerheads for creating the lambskin-based Arena — an awesome shoe that has unfortunately become today’s America Cup — is shifting gears a bit as 2017 nears, with a new knit upper silhouette for both men and women.

Priced at an arbitrarily steep $545, each style of the “Speed Trainer” features a knit sock upper, memory foam insole and sculpted foam midsole. For now, the Italian-made trainers are only available in a simple Black/White colorway, though we can expect to see more hues on the way ahead. Balenciaga.com is now taking pre-orders for both Men and Women, with orders expected to be shipped at the start of the new year.

Let us know what you think of the new high-end knit trainers in the comments section below, or if you’re good to go with Flyknit and Primeknit instead.
