The Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” are back this weekend, but how long did we have to wait? Why are they important? These questions and more are answered in this edition of Everything You Need to Know. Release History

1993

The Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” originally released in 1993. This makeup was the third and final OG colorway, following the “Bugs Bunny” model that debuted during the regular season and the “Aquas” which were worn in the All-Star Game in Utah.

In August of 2003, the “Playoffs” returned with a twist. A low top build saw the OG colorway back for the first time but in adapted form. Such modifications made it less popular than the originals, though some wearers still rock with this model.

Following a fourteen year wait, the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” launched in retro form as a mid. This release came around the holiday season, continuing the trend of Black/Red retros in December. A black heel tab proved the only noticeable difference on this retro rendition.
