Cultural Significance

Like many other makeups, the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” were made famous by Michael Jordan during the postseason. The 1993 NBA Playoffs saw MJ and the Bulls take home their third straight title by defeating league MVP Charles Barkley and the Phoenix Suns. Jordan was on all postseason, averaging right around 35 points, seven rebounds and six assists a game. The six-game Finals series against Phoenix saw many epic performances, including a 55 point explosion after a Game 3 loss. Due to Michael Jordan’s surprising retirement, it was quite possible that the “Playoff” 8s could’ve been the last Air Jordan worn on the hardwood by Mike. As we all know, it didn’t work out that way.
