Release History

Air Jordan 9 “Cool Grey” 2002

The Air Jordan 9 “Cool Grey” released for the first time on October 25, 2002. Preceded by re-releases of the original White/Black-Red, “Olive”, and also-new “French Blue” colorway, this shoe marked the last midtop launch of the AJ9 in ’02.

Due in part to a lack of retro popularity and a down economy, the “Cool Grey” 9s were not a sellout the first time around, though not despised. The “Cool Grey” colorway served as a follow up to the smash hit AJ11s that debuted the previous year.
