Extra Butter x Adidas Consortium “New York Rivalry Series” Nods to Throwback Hockey Jerseys

For the current Fall 2023 season, renowned sneaker boutique Extra Butter and Adidas’ premium and limited-edition segment Adidas Consortium have once again joined forces, this time on a “New York Rivalry Series” which includes two retro Rivalry Low silhouettes which aptly highlights the rivalry between New York’s hockey fandom.

“Though hockey may not be as influential as basketball, hockey jerseys were a staple in 90’s streetwear,” recalls Extra Butter creative director, Bernie Gross in an official press release. “Coincidentally, 1996 was a year that both NY hockey teams introduced new alternative jerseys and although neither was long-lived, both have grown cult followings. When we learned that Adidas was bringing the Rivalry out from the vault, I thought it could be a clever play on the shoe’s namesake to highlight my friends’ playful banter repping their respective New York teams.”

This Extra Butter x Adidas Consortium “New York Rivalry Series” is a throwback to New York Islanders jerseys from the ‘90s. The pair sports a predominately white suede upper with the team’s orange and teal hues elevating the Three Stripes branding, heels and tongue tabs. Rounding out the final details are the Extra Butter team banner graphic, hidden details on the insoles, chats from the fan base, and additional laces.
