To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its iconic Clyde silhouette, sportswear giant PUMA has tapped both retailer Extra Butter and culinary outpost Russ & Daughters for a celebratory pair.

Having originally released in 1973 for basketball player Walt “Clyde” Frazier, the special-edition Extra Butter x Russ & Daughters x PUMA Clyde references the OG pair and will only be limited to 73 pairs. In terms of design, the collaborative model sports a white leather outfit with blue and silver accents as a reference to Russ & Daughters’ color scheme. The restaurant’s fish patch alongside its server coats and faux fish scale leather is seen on the tongue tabs and heels, while additional branding boasts the food spot’s founding year: “NYC / 1914.” On the backside of the tongue “A New York City Story by Extra Butter” is spotlighed

“Growing up in New York, especially as a b-boy, the Clyde is an icon,” said Extra Butter’s creative director, Bernie Gross, in a statement. “It’s a simple, timeless classic and has served as a great canvas for designers to implement various aesthetics, trends and perspectives that can speak to a global audience for the past five decades. It’s a must-have for any sneaker enthusiast.”

Interested readers can contact Extra Butter’s store in New York’s Lower East Side for availability on the Extra Butter x Russ & Daughters x PUMA Clyde. For more drops, check out our Sneaker Release Dates Calendar.
