Back in the day, Kevin Johnson was known for his explosive guard play and above the rim finishes. While many remember the Phoenix Sun lacing up the Converse Run ‘n Slam during his playing days, he was also the first NBA player to wear FILA. In the spirit of that partnership, his KJ7 signature shoe is set to return. Set to release in a home-based Suns colorway, the retro release will actually benefit his current home of Sacramento where he presides as mayor. Because of his government duties, he cannot except royalties so FILA will be donating $25,000 to the Sacramento Public Policy Foundation and another $25,000 to the Think Big Sacramento, a task force focused on building a new arena for the Kings. Look for the Suns colorway as well as a Kings makeup to release around All-Star Weekend next year.
