Tomorrow marks the beginning of Black History Month and festivities are already underway. In honor of the annual holiday, Foot Locker announces the recipients for its 2022 Sole List campaign, which honors Black photographers that are uplifting their communities.
The Sole List was created to highlight the next generation of Black innovators who are shaping the future of sneaker culture. For 2022, Foot Locker chose to put a spotlight on those in the film and media industry by selecting three Black photographers that spread positivity and inspire others to think big. This year’s recipients are Andy Jackson, Flo Ngala, and Joshua Renfroe.
All three photographers worked with Foot Locker’s Home Grown program to create visuals that highlight products from Black-owned businesses. This project was designed to reshape and reimagine what Blackness looks like from their perspectives. Foot Locker launched Home Grown in 2019 in hopes to connect people with exciting up-and-coming designers. The 2022 Sole List campaign will feature brands like Bad Girl, Good Human, Broke and Board, Moneyball Sportswear, Diadora x Jim Twice, Humbl Hustlr, Grady Baby, Y.A.N.G. (Young and Naturally Grinding), S.O.O.N. (Something Out of Nothing), and KIY Studios.
Foot Locker plans to showcase the photos from the selected photographers at an upcoming art gallery exhibit, sometime during February. Official details regarding the art show have not yet been announced, but you can expect more info soon.
