Japanese designer Fumito Ganryu has unveiled his latest collab with Converse under his eponymous label. This time the duo reunites to debut the Converse Baskate.
The two introduce the Baskate model that combines the functionality of basketball and skateboarding shoes with retro 80s aesthetics. Its silhouette is based on the Converse ERX260 shoe, which was a popular basketball shoe in the 80s. Overall, the sneaker retains its basketball identity with the exception of the shoe’s glossy black makeup. Other details include Converse’s “ENERGY WAVE” midsoles for extra cushioning.
The Fumito Ganryu x Converse Baskate Shoes arrive later this year at Converse and Fumito Ganryu’s website for ¥29,700 (approx. $210). Until then, check out the promotional images below.
