Last year, the world and sneaker community lost by most measures its greatest scribe – Gary Warnett. Passing last September from unexpected illness, Warnett left a legacy as one of the most knowledgeable, well-rounded and well-liked members of the community, understanding the culture from every aspect ranging from regional style preferences to technical innovation to halo influence.
Working often for Nike as a consultant and copyright, the Swoosh has honored Warnett on what would’ve been his 40th birthday with a limited run of 40 pairs of the Nike Air Span with GW stamped on the side.
The silo holds a special place in the legacy of Gary as the Span was his father’s favorite shoe.
Salute to Nike for celebrating and honoring the legend. Get a glimpse of both his taste and knowledge here.
