Ever since adidas announced a long-term partnership with the music mogul that is Pharrell Williams back in 2014, both the brand and the culture have reached new heights.
Pharrell’s signature NMDs have shifted the paradigm of sneakers. His extremely limited NMDs contain words or messages of our everyday lives combined with a variety of colorways that create a masterpiece.
The Golden Shape, a blog that’s dedicated to recreating sneakers on a digital-only platform, took Pharrell’s shoe and created an interesting design. Back in 2013, Pharrell created the summer jam “Happy” which made it onto the big screen with Despicable Me 2. The Golden Shape took the famous minions from the movie and combined it with the Hu NMDs.
We’ve seen a variety of animated cartoons make it onto shoes such as the Peanuts and Toy Story with Vans and of course the Looney Tunes with Jordan. While these customs might not ever make it to the shelves, it’s great to see the combination of pop culture and streetwear come alive.
Take a look at the “Les Minions” x Hu NMDs below and be sure to follow The Golden Shape here for more dope concepts.
