Good Causes
In the NBA, NCAA and on IG, Nice Kicks alum George Kiel and his team at the Kiel Colon Cancer Foundation had everybody lacing their shoes with #BlueKnots this March. Raising awareness and money for Colon Cancer, you can learn more here.
Often known as the No Fun League, the NFL really got it right with allowing and advertising players to wear custom cleats to spread awareness for different causes. Whether it was the joyful Brandon Marshall and his work towards positive mental health or players sporting pink in support of Breast Cancer, the game was more vibrant and fun in a variety of ways.
In addition to #BlueKnots and the NFL, we saw many good causes supported by sneakers in 2016. For starters, the Nike MAG released for the first time with power laces and raised $6.75 Million for Parkinson’s Research! While the great Craig Sager passed, his “Sager Strong” Air Force 1s released to raise money for blood cancer research and education. On top of that, we saw Jacques Slade team up with Julius Randle and DICKS Sporting Goods for youth sports, adidas and Parley help to save the oceans, Hav a Sole lace the nation, Positive Vibes Warriors keep it wavy with Vans, Kicks 4 Kids give back to the youth and countless other kind acts and causes supported through kicks.
