With the adidas Yeezy Boost slated to restock next month, the most anticipated shoe of 2015 looks to again mount an even bigger buzz. But let’s think back to before the general release in February and after the initial airplane leak months prior. Officially, Ibn Jasper was the first to unveil the Yeezy Boost, and he recently told the story of how that moment came to be.
In a recent interview with Bevel Code, Jasper remembers the night in question when the Yeezy Boost hit the net. “We were in the back of the car on the way to the Tidal release and Ye just casually told me to post a pic of the Boosts,” he recalls. Jasper goes on to allude to the fact that this kind gesture benefited him greatly, and his longtime friend is to credit.
Japser gained more than 30,000 new Instagram followers over the next few days on those six Yeezy Boost photos alone. And with new endeavors of his own on the horizon, his new-found visibility assuredly aided him greatly. “He just encouraged me to post. The media wants to make him this monster. They never focus on his charity.”
Oddly enough, there is no grand scheme from the calculated minds of DONDA behind the first leak of the now famous adidas Yeezy Boost. Just one friend doing another a solid. Pretty cool.
