This weekend I was fortunate to spend some time down in Miami to take in the sights and sounds of Art Basel, which is an annual four day long Art Festival held all around Miami. Along with a slew of Art and Music related events, the sneaker culture has also traveled to Art Basel with the likes of Nike, Jordan and adidas setting up pop-up shops in town.
I think it goes without saying that the Social Status x Jordan “Basel Vice” Pop-Up Shop managed to drum up the most hype which was originally set to be open 12PM-7PM on 12/8 at the Mondrian Hotel located at ?1100 West Ave in Miami Beach?.
After cops came and shut down the release on multiple occasions, Social Status and Jordan had to come up with a Plan B. After a change of plans, hundreds of people found themselves trying to get out to Island Gardens In Miami Beach anyway possible to line up for wristbands guaranteeing you the opportunity to purchase a pair of the limited Jordan 1s.
With the last minute move to Island Gardens, the teams at Social Status and Jordan Brand loaded up a huge yacht and sold the shoes directly off the boat, bringing on 10 customers on at a time to purchase their choice of either the “Rust Pink” or “Igloo” Jordan 1s.
Below are a few photos from the scene of the “Basel Vice” Pop Up in Miami Beach over the weekend. A big thanks to James Whitner for letting me grab some photos aboard the yacht during all the commotion.
