Kanye West is back on Twitter and it’s far from boring.
While tentative release dates for GOOD Music artists ranging from himself to CSS queen Teyana Taylor have proved early highlights — not to mention his own collabo album with Kid Cudi — he’s also been teasing some samples from his line with adidas.
As an appetizer, West opened up his showroom to give us all a glimpse at upcoming Yeezys of the 350, 500 and 700 variety. Perhaps as a main course to those with playoff action on their mind, he proved a never-before-seen mid-top shoe with a very suggestive basketball emoji in the caption.
Basketball SZN? For those keeping track at home, a Kanye West x adidas Yeezy Basketball shoe has been somewhat on the horizon for quite some time. When West re-upped with The Three Stripes in adidas 2016, our own Nick DePaula reported the following on Kanye spreading his wings to new categories including the hardwood:
“In addition to the continuing lifestyle products, of important note is also the fact that adidas will soon launch Yeezy performance products as well. Yes, this means some of the brand’s newest endorsers will be seen on court in the NBA at the game’s highest level in Yeezy basketball shoes. Adidas will also launch distinct Yeezy retail hubs around the world.”
In the time since, we’re yet to see Swaggy P, James Harden or Kelly Oubre lace up a Yeezy Basketball shoe on the NBA Hardwood. However, we have seen West wear models suspected to be such while hooping and while on the go.
As samples populate interest in the Kanye collection spreading to performance categories grow just the same.
Considering the season — Yeezy and playoffs respectively — could we see Swaggy P or James Harden debut a Yeezy BBall model en route to the Finals? Maybe on West’s feet courtside at a game or whilst playing 21 with Young Thug and Mr. Hudson?
Only time will tell but keep it locked to Nice Kicks for updates.
