Over the weekend, an Air Jordan 1/11 Hybrid appeared on the feet of Nike Basketball designer Leo Chang at a brand gala. It was soon discovered that this 50/50 take on the two most popular Air Jordans of all time was a gift crafted by the legend Tinker Hatfield.
As expected, the internet went nuts.
Conjuring comparisons to the Fusions which paired Air Jordan uppers with Air Force 1 tooling ten years ago, this pair is assumed to be a one-off. However, could this hybrid be a peek into the future of retros?
In an era where weird and classic are the two driving catalysts for footwear and fashion, is it all but expected that the two trends would merge?
