British designer J.W. Anderson has taken a true and unfiltered look at the Converse Chuck Taylor. He’s seen the silhouette unlike anyone before him, outfitting the time-honored sneaker in glitter, all-over prints and now, ’70s inspired felt.

An arts and crafts student who grew up to be a fashion designer, Anderson reaches back to his earliest affinity to re-imagine the Chuck 70. There’s an immediate contrast as the Chuck was originally produced in canvas yet now in this hairy felt onset.

A juxtaposition of bright fluorescents paneled to perfection with a varying shade at the tongue act as a separator on the offering’s primary pair. There are, too, monotone and tonal iterations for the slightly less daring. Although in totality the shoe, this look, aren’t for the fearful. For that matter, none of Anderson’s releases with Converse have been.

Anderson’s retro eye tastefully leans into modern-day sensibility. His art-centric approach is never too much — rather always just enough. He’s found the ideal balance between elegant exactness and tapered radicalism.
