Converse, with its time-honored Chuck Taylor and similar offshoots like the contemporary Chuck 70, may very well have the most exciting shoe in sneakers not named the Nike React Element 87. Largely based in stellar collaborations with Virgil Abloh, Jun Takahashi, COMME des GARÇONS, alongside upcoming releases from Tyler, the Creator, and Jerry Lorenzo of Fear of God, the centerpiece of the Chuck this year has been its stable of releases from designer J.W. Anderson.

The British designer may have his best Converse collection to date coming this season, venturing back to the glitter theme that made his first collection a cultural phenomenon. Enriched with vibrant hues that leap from the classic high top, silver/neon yellow and red/teal-yellow iterations join with a loaded midsole equipped with a jagged texture colored in both black and gum.

Anderson’s fall/winter 2018 collection strategically features the best of his first collection and a progressive jump towards what’s forthcoming. Blending modern-day aesthetics while forecasting design language of seasons ahead, Anderson has been best at joining the cleanliness of British fashion with an overarching glitz that attracts youth culture.
