Ahead of the official release of the Nike KD 8 – a shoe Nike deems one of its most technical sneakers to date – a pair of JFK Airport employees couldn’t hold out until the alleged July release. Calvin Colain Nelson, 23, and Audley Russell, 47, have been apprehended by local authorities for stealing 24 pairs of the eighth signature shoe of Kevin Durant.

A Taiwanese shipment that was headed to Canada was intercepted by Russell who then sold the 24 pairs to Nelson for $80 a piece. The enterprising Nelson then uploaded all pairs to his Instagram account, @SNKR_BASE, selling all pairs somewhere in the range of $135-$300. The Nike KD 8 is expected to retail for $200.

After the shipment was noticed as absent, authorities were alerted to the theft after Nelson uploaded not only images of shoes, but serial numbers and barcodes of each shoe to his IG. Both employees are being charged with theft and grand larceny. They were released on their own recognizance but if charged, could face upwards to four years in prison.
