Jimmy Gorecki JSP x Vault by Vans Chukka 79 Release Date

Coming to us straight out of Philly, Jimmy Gorecki‘s JSP is teaming up with Vault by Vans to launch a special edition Chukka 79. A guru of many talents, Jimmy has risen to prominence as a prodigal son from the City of Brotherly Love. Now, he channels his upbringing around the city, specifically evoking Love Park’s iconic history with JSP’s Vans collaboration.

The skateboarding community found a beautiful home in Philly in the late 90’s as this collaboration communications. Carrying the city’s energy through Love Park and into a collaboration isn’t easy, though Vans provided a great canvas with the Chukka 79. Paying tribute to the cultural icon with a lot of love it was only fitting that one of skateboarding’s most notable shoes tied up with one of the most significant East Coast locations.

Arriving in Black and Cream colorways featuring a premium suede, the shoes include a UltraCush insole and icy blue outsole. Arguably the most stand-out feature on the pairs is the midsole, which features a Red & White checkerboard decorated with graffiti graphics from another Love Park regular, Joe Lees. Taking it back to when they would skate together, most of these doodles are on the inside of the foot. Blue piping runs around the top of the midsole, completed by an icy blue toecap, with tonal lacing finishing the model. A final touch to the collab, Gorecki pays tribute to his childhood friend & influence, JR Neves, who passed away in 2009, along the box.

A collaboration filled with intricate detail, the shoe exudes the spirit of Philly and the skate culture of the 90s. Fittingly the shoes will drop at 2 of Philly’s front-running stores, Lapstone & Hammer and Gorecki’s first-ever sponsor, Nocturnal. A true passion project, the beauty of this collaboration lies within the story behind the creation, as with all of Jimmy’s work.
