Embiid could join Julius Randle and Terance Mann on the Skechers Basketball roster.
Joel Embiid could be the latest addition to Skechers and their new basketball division, according to The Athletic.
The potential deal is still in the works, but Embiid was reportedly spotted in Skechers sneakers during practice on October 18 with Skechers performance staff on site. Embiid is still in the wear-test phase and is unlikely to sign a deal before the start of the NBA season starts, a source confirmed to Nice Kicks. It is also possible that Embiid signs with another brand.
The potential signing of Embiid gives Skechers new momentum and validity as it continues to expand in sports. Recently, the brand signed Bayern Munich and English striker Harry Kane and developed its first-ever football boot. In the NBA, New York Knicks Julius Randle and Los Angeles Clippers Terance Mann have signed over to the brand.
If he joins Skechers, it would be the Philadelphia 76er’s third sneaker endorsement deal. Embiid entered the league in 2014 and signed a deal with Adidas along with other top prospects in the 2014 draft class. In 2018, Embiid would sign with Under Armour for a 5-year deal that is nearing its end. Puma and New Balance were some of the brands that were pursing Embiid before he signed with Under Armour.
