Jordan Brand and Public School’s collab famously reads “We Need Leaders” on the apparel. Well, JB might have found them at Chicago’s Little Black Pearl Art & Design Academy. Students in the Windy City competed to develop a tee for the Jumpman’s Chicago Flagship Store, with the winning design sold and produced at said shop.
This community program coincides with the Jordan Design Studio offered to LBPA students. One shirt design is feature per year with a 16 week program providing students with teaching and fundamentals regarding design, marketing, merchandising, business pitches and college visits. Last summer, JB sent 30 LBPA to Nike’s headquarters in Beaverton to work with Swoosh employees. In addition, said students have access to apply for the Jordan Wings scholarship with 14 Chicago kids receiving financial help for college since 2015 and a total of 200 receiving college help from JB nationwide.
