Of the many designers and collaborators that have aided in the large Converse uptick over the past 18 months, JW Anderson serves among the most influential. Anderson’s London-based label ascended to global fame thanks in large part to consistently great A.P.C. collaborations. In tandem, the Northern Ireland native has found similar success in his ongoing partnership with the American footwear label.
For the past several seasons, Anderson’s Chuck Taylor musings have been recognized alongside the best collaborations in sneakers. His latest serves to continue that trend. Focusing again on the Chuck Taylor High and Low, Anderson applies a glossy almost plastic coat to each style in vibrant gradients.
Purple, pink, green and orange hues appear lush over the classic silhouette while flavorful midsole tooling seamlessly blends with the clever material coat to the north. Anderson’s whimsical design is punctuated smartly by its moniker, which covers the collection in a playful toy theme.
Look for the JW Anderson x Converse Chuck 70 “Toy” Collection to release beginning on July 19 through July 22 during a four-day pop-up exhibit in London. The High will be priced at $150 with its low counterpart at $140, respectively.
