The recent incidents of police brutality that have resulted in the murders of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd have brought millions of people and a handful of organizations together for a common cause — Black lives. The deaths of Taylor and Floyd are not isolated incidents as the issues of police brutality are reoccurring patterns as a result of systemic racism. The murders come months after the death of Ahmaud Arbery, who was killed by white individuals who felt that Arbery was a threat just for going on a run and being a Black American.

The deaths have awakened the masses and advocated for change. The protests across the country have led to donations and other efforts to bring forth justice.

Kanye West has stepped up and donated $2 million to the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. West also donated to help fund businesses in Chicago that have been affected by recent looting. Additionally, West established a 529 education plan to fully cover college tuition for George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Gianna Floyd.
