Kanye West, after deleting his Twitter back in May 2017, reactivated his account this weekend to share a few pressing things. He first spoke directly to his former partner, Nike, and his thoughts regarding their modern-day Monarch and its striking resemblance to his largely popular Yeezy Boost 700. After deleting said tweet, West then moved on to his own creations and not the assumed inspiration of others.
West revealed an early Photoshop rendering of the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 that he’d shown to fashion pioneer Louise Wilson before her untimely passing in spring 2014. Unlike the masterful yet visibly minimal retail release of the shoe, this one is much more active in terms of ingredients. The ribbed midsole doesn’t extend the full length of the silhouette, instead opting for a smoother surface from the forefoot extended. The rendering also appears to have a higher arch at the tongue. There’s also a patch at the quarter paneling that didn’t make the final cut.
At a later period on Sunday, West previewed a couple of pairs of Yeezy 1050 Boots that he said he’s “still working to get right.” The first 1050 boot premiered back in 2016 as one part of West’s Season 3 collection. The imposing frame reinforced in Gore-Tex construction has been a hit by every possible standard. And, as West is certainly aware, has spawned other industry titans to produce similar styles. In that regard — and many others, respectively — West’s influence remains undeniable.
With Kanye back on Twitter it’s to wonder if other upcoming releases will be previewed there first. Whether that happens or not, there’s never been a better time to turn on your post notifications with Ye back in the saddle.
