Kanye West is the jack of all trades from a creative standpoint. He’s a designer, an artist, an entrepreneur, a risk taker and above all, he’s a game changer. Kanye revolutionized our understanding of the intersectionality between shoes and artists by becoming the embodiment of both with Nike to then carrying over that same energy and philosophy to adidas.

Whether you love him or hate him, he’s the topic of conversation within pop-culture. Whatever Kanye does, the masses follow whether it’s sporting pink Polos with a Louis Vuitton backpack to rocking the Dad Shoe-esque adidas Yeezy 700 “Wave Runner.”

With Kanye’s trendsetting capabilities in mind, artist Shannon Favia painted the “Wave Runner” with the motif of Kanye’s Midas touch. Favia first painted a layer of acrylic paint and then went over it with heavy layers of aerosol. Before that layer dried, she took a screwdriver and carved little electric currents (waves) into the paint as it symbolizes Yeezy’s wave-making abilities.

Take a look at the painting below and be sure to follow the artist here. Are you a fan of the artwork? Is Kanye truly a trendsetter? Let us know on social media.
