Which is your favorite colorway so far?
We have some samples, but right now we?re starting with the red suede, grey suede and black suede. The basics. We have a Premium shoe for Holiday, too, that changes the whole feel. That?s probably one of my favorites.
Want to give away any secrets?
It?s brown leather with gum. It changes the whole feel. There?s also a black leather shoe with Parchment?that OG Parchment Converse color?that?s so nice.
We have some shoes later on that are actually a different variation of the KA-One, and on top that have Premium materials. For design reasons, you want the basic suedes, but it?s cool to break it up with materials and new variations.
Now that silhouette is actually out, how active have you been in choosing colors and picking the little details?
We work directly together. The designers have their ideas. That?s what they do. I never want to step on them. I have my ideas. From there we just bounce ideas of each other. ?What do you think about this?? and we go back and forth.
You work with them a lot?
Right now we?re even sampling some stuff for Fall 2012: a completely different variation of the KA-One. It?s cool because we can test things for later, just in case it comes back completely off. Now that we have the silhouette done, we can start having a lot of fun with the materials.
So what?s next for you, both in skating and with Converse?
Right now we?re finishing up the Girl and Chocolate video that comes out at the end of the year. In the mean time, we?re doing all the shoe launch stuff. Next year, there are trips planned to do some big things. I don?t want to sound cheesy, but we?re working on some videos and tours, as well as some real meaningful videos that represent Converse as a brand.
