After hosting three Kick & Roll Open Gym events in Austin, Texas during January-March, our Editor-In-Chief George Kiel and the Kiel Colon Cancer Foundation departed to Houston to host the first of three more Kick & Roll Open Gym sessions this past weekend. Dubbed the “Cancer Control Month” Kick & Roll Open Gym, the session was held at Kiel’s alma mater Cypress Creek High School and brought in a total of 100+ attendees in addition to the 40 participants.
With April being National Cancer Control Month, the foundation’s focus to was to attack the aspect of “fighting cancer in the kitchen.” That said, they required the participants to bring with them at least two brand new containers of spices and herbs that are rich in anti-cancer phytochemicals – turmeric, ginger, rosemary, thyme, mint and parsley – in which the foundation will donate to the Houston Food Bank. A total of 100 containers of spices and herbs were collected at the end of the event. Check out the recap below, which includes an insane amount of intriguing footwear that was worn on court.
