Our Editor-In-Chief George Kiel and his Kiel Colon Cancer Foundation are kicking off the Kick & Roll Open Gym 2016 tour with a stop at the University of Texas during the upcoming SXSW Weekend in Austin.
As an extension of the Kick & Roll Classic 3-on-3 Basketball Event, the Kick & Roll Open Gym sessions are free, sneaker-themed, 5-on-5 basketball runs designed to raise awareness for colorectal cancer, encourage a healthy lifestyle and build a rapport within the communities we serve through themed, non-monetary donations. The themed donations go to specific groups and/or entities, such as cancer clinics, community centers and health organizations, that we target each month in hopes of bettering the overall state of colon cancer.
Prizes will be handed to the participant who wears the best shoe on court, the overall Shoe MVP (player who brings the best lineup of sneakers to sport on court) and the MVP of the day.
Although free to the public, only the first 100 registrants will get a chance to hoop for a cause with Kiel. Registration opens up tonight at 8 PM CST on the Kiel Colon Cancer website.
