Nike Zoom KD III “Christmas”
Sadly enough, I’ve never owned a pair of KDs. I’m just not a huge fan of basketball shoes, especially the modern models. However, I do have a favorite KD, and it’s more because of a funny story behind the shoe. When I worked at the Nice Kicks Shop, we had a loyal customer who was a huge KD fan. He had pretty much every colorway, and despite the shoes having their official nicknames, he always made up his own nicknames for the shoes, which usually referenced some kind of food. For example, he called the “All-Star” KD IIIs the “Strawberry Crushes,” but my favorite has to be the “Christmas” KD III, a shoe he referred to as the “Banana Puddings.”
I miss talking to that guy because he really had a authentic love for the sneakers, and in no way was concerned with the hype. I often see people getting on other people who get nicknames wrong, and to me, it’s not that big of a deal. I think the sneaker game would be a little better if everyone made up their own nicknames like that man did.
