Nike Blazer “Nintendo Wii”

The one pair of shoes I will never part with is my “Ninetendo Wii” Nike Blazer. During the summer before my Freshman year in high school, I saw them at our local Nike outlet for $29.99. I only had $20 on me, but I was able to convince my little brother to lend me the rest. I coveted that pair of sneakers, putting them on display in my room for weeks before I broke them out. As soon as I started wearing them, I couldn’t stop. I worshipped those shoes and wore them religiously. I wore them all through the harsh Maine winter, and come summertime, they were pretty much destroyed. I didn’t have the good sense to be careful with them (I was just a kid), but the memories made in those sneakers are well worth it. One day, I came home from preseason soccer, and my sweet mother informed me that she had thrown them out. Even though they were disgusting, I was devastated. This sad tale actually has a happy ending. The summer before my freshman year in college, I was browsing eBay looking for a cheap new pickup. I was delighted to find a pair of Nike Blazer Wiis in my size. The starting bid was – you’d better believe it – $29.99. I was the only bidder and won a replacement pair of my favorite sneakers ever. I plan to keep these forever, and hopefully take better care of them. I have to be careful though; if I wear them once, I won’t be able to stop!
