On Sunday night, Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond chose to bring awareness to the one-year anniversary of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting through his sneakers. The names of all 26 victims involved in the Sandy Hook shooting graced Drummond’s “Old Royal” Air Jordan 10s in the Pistons’ game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The former UCONN Husky also stated that he will give his game-worn jersey to the school.
The honorable gesture to Sandy Hook is not the only one we’ve seen on the NBA courts. You may recall Kevin Durant writing, “Newtown, Connecticut” on his shoes just one day after news broke of the shooting last season. View multiple photos of Drummond’s tribute below.
