Mike WiLL Made It is dominating the airwaves, but what were the first pair of Airs that made waves with him? While the super-producer sported his fair share of Jordans as a kid playing basketball in Atlanta, the pair that really got it started for him stems from his success in music. Find out the pair of sneakers that set it off for Mike WiLL in this installment of Kickstarter.
Mike WiLL Made It: “The first pair I got when I got on was probably the ‘Banned’ 1s. I had the other Black/Red 1s, but when I bought the ‘Banned’ 1s it was a different ball game. That’s when I started getting the real rare kicks. I got those because I had never had them before. When I was a kid, I always wore Jordans, but I don’t remember any baby pictures with me having those 1s. I picked them up from Flight Club in LA from my boy Rick.”
“I like 1s, but they come out a lot. The ‘Banned’ 1’s leather was just different then all the rest of the other 1s. I had to get those, they’re just the classic 1s. I’ve definitely worn them in the studio and to the club. I try to beat those up. I feel like 1s just look classic when you beat them up. They look too stiff when they’re clean. Those 1s are supposed to look vintage, especially with the strong leather on the ‘Banned’ 1s. They can take a beating but they still look hard.”
