Well before he even played a single regular season game in them, LeBron James was already raving about his latest signature sneaker, the Nike LeBron 15. James believes that the LeBron 15 is his best signature sneaker and unsurprisingly, the Cavaliers superstar wants his fellow teammates to also wear his trademarked kicks on the court.
In fact, James told JR Smith to wear the LeBron 15 and the Cavs guard immediately had his best game of the season.
“I told him it was the shoes,” James told reporters on Tuesday via cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon. “He finally decided to wear my shoes. After a long conversation we finally decided to wear them and he had a breakout game.”
While playing in the LeBron 15, Smith shot 7-of-12 and went 5-of-7 from three to finish with 20 points in Cleveland’s 124-119 win over the Bucks. This performance was in stark contrast to Smith’s averages this season as he was putting up just 6.6 points a night while shooting 32.5 percent and a dismals 29.6 percent from three.
Smith has been mainly playing in different versions from Kobe Bryant’s signature line this season. However, since Smith had a breakout game in the LeBron 15, he should probably stick to his James’ signature line for the rest of the year.
