Kobe’s Ascension

After a rocky rookie season that saw Bryant receive minimal playing time, the 1997-98 NBA season would catapult the young guard into star status, despite ending the previous season in traumatic fashion. With a new look that would involve a trademark afro, Bryant would increase his season averages to 15.4 points per game, along with 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per outing.
