Lena Waithe might be the hardest working woman in Hollywood. The Emmy-winning writer, actress, and producer has recently announced more new projects than most can keep pace with. Her latest comes today in the form of an unscripted sneaker culture show fittingly titled You Ain’t Got These.
First announced by THR, Waithe’s budding project is part of Jeffrey Katzenberg’s Quibi, a new mobile streaming platform that will also feature content from Guillermo Del Toro and Antoine Fuqua.
The short form series will explore the depths of sneaker culture and the many subversive attachments that come along with it. Race, politics, class, gender, creativity, commerce, addiction and self-expression will orbit the overarching sneaker narrative, which speaks to the multi-billion dollar industry masquerading as a subculture.

The only “45” I care about. Grateful to @jumpman23 for always taking care of me.
A card-carrying sneakerhead and Chicago native, Waithe grew up in the Jordan era in one of the culture’s richest hubs. She’s laced up heat on Master of None, the Emmy-winning series in which she made history as the first black woman to win for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Lena also appeared in a Nike ad alongside Paul Rodriguez, Richard Sherman, Draymond Green, and Sean Wotherspoon this past April.
Waithe will act as the shows executive producer alongside Boardwalk Pictures. “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Lena. She is a singular creative voice of her generation, and her passion for this subject is infectious,” said Andrew Fried, Executive Producer of Boardwalk Pictures, to THR.
A premiere date for You Ain’t Got These has not yet been detailed. Stay tuned for more.
